If you work in the area of information systems audit, control, and security, you need to qualify and be certified. To get certified you need to pass the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) exam sponsored by ISACA.
The CISA exam is offered twice a year: June and December. The exam covers six topics including:
IS Audit Process 10%
IT Governance 15%
Systems and Infrastructure Lifecycle Management 16%
IT Service Delivery and Support 14%
Protection of Information Assets 31%
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery 14%
In the IS Audit process section you must prove you can provide IS audit services based on IS audit standards, guidelines, and best practices. This way you can ensure the company that its information technology and business systems are protected and controlled. In the IT Governance section you will show that an organization’s structure, policies, accountability, mechanisms, and monitoring practices are in place and working. CISA In the Systems and Infrastructure Lifecycle Management section you will show that the company’s management practices are in line with the development/acquisition, testing, implementation, maintenance, and disposal of systems and infrastructure. In the IT Service Delivery and Support section you will show that a company’s IT service management practices are working. In the Protection of Information Assets section you will show that the security architecture (policies, standards, procedures, and controls) work together to make sure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets is maintained.
